Derek Walcott(1930 – 2017)
* Derek Alton Walcott is a Trinidadian poet (West Indies).
* He received the Nobel Prize in 1992.
* His important works are:
1- Dream on Monkey Mountain (1967)-Play
2- Omeros (1990) Poem (It takes place on the Island of St. Lucia)
3- The Sea at Dauphin: A play in one act.

5- The Isle of the Noises

* He makes folk music a major part of his poetry in which he presents drumming, work songs and the blues.
* He is influenced by modernist writers as T.S. Eliot and Ezra Pound.
