Thomas Kyd
* 1558-1594
* English playwright and the author of The Spanish Tragedy or Hieronimo is Mad Again
* His fellow students were Edmund Spenser and Thomas Lodge.
* There is no evidence that Kyd attended any of the university.
* Thomas Heywood called him “Famous Kyd.”
* The full title of The Spanish Tragedy is: “Spanish tragedies, containing the lamentable end of Don Haratio, and Bel-Imperia: With the pitiful death of old Hieronimo”
* Plays attributed to Kyd in whole or in part includes Soliman and Perseda, King Leir, Arden of Feversham and Edward III.
* He is also presumed author of a pamphlet in the prose entitled The Murder of John Brewen (1592).
